Sylvia’s food and wine journey started as a child in her family’s winery back in Germany. Since she can remember, she was always trailing her parents in the steep slate covered terroir of the vineyards of the Moselle Valley. It became a natural progression for her to follow in her father’s footsteps and pursue an education in enology and viticulture. When not in the fields or cellar, Sylvia could be found picking produce from her favorite Great Aunt Katharina’s garden, peeking into her mother’s pots simmering on the stove and taking notes, and climbing the sour cherry tree to get those hard to reach cherries and canning them in their tiny kitchen.
 

After a 25+ year stint in the Bay Area accounting world, Sylvia and her husband - a Napa native - decided to relocate to Amador County, in a move she describes as coming full circle with her experiences in Germany.

For Sylvia, food is so much more than a list of ingredients: it’s the people gathering around a beautifully set table, glasses raised in a toast, ambience and good conversations, the pop of a champagne cork, sneaking a bite of your partner's bread or licking your plate when you think no one is looking - those are the additional ingredients that make for a great food experience.

Throughout her travels, it became clear to Sylvia that the Moselle’s warm hospitality is world renowned and runs in her veins. She hopes to bring a similar experience to Amador County. According to Sylvia, her simple upbringing in Germany keeps her humble and her life in California allows her to pursue her dreams
